There are practical rewards, like new jobs, and there are broad-view advantages, such as using renewable energy to lessen dependence on fossil fuels, but these benefits aren't as tangible as a wind turbine in a public backyard, and some see them as short-shrift in exchange for their unfettered view of the natural world.
